¿WHICH PRODUCT NEED APPROVAL IN CHILE?
Many products before being marketed in Chile must go through certification processes, which are subject to regulatory standards issued by Chilean authorities (SUBTEL and SEC). Below, we attach a brief description of each of them.
- RF Approval (Subtel)
This certification is documentary and it evaluates that the operation of the product does not interfere with communications with other devices.
- What products does it apply to?
Any product that uses WiFi, Zigbee, BLE, RFID or any other short-range wireless technology.
- What are the requirements?
Have all the technical documentation of the product that shows its operating characteristics.
- Multibanda Approval
This certification requires physical tests on the devices and is necessary to evaluate the compatibility with all 2G, 3G and 4G networks present in the country and support the Emergency Alert System (SAE), whose characteristics must be customized for Chile.
- What products does it apply to?
Only Cell phones.
- What are the requirements?
This process is carried out by an authorized laboratory, on the equipment that importers want to market in Chile, following a strict testing protocol.
3.IMEI registration
This registration is carried out on all the devices that operate in the Chilean cellular network, using a national SIMCARD.
- What products does it apply to?
Applies to two types of product family
– The first one consists of those cell phones that have previously met the multi-band / SAE certification
– The second family corresponds to other devices that do not require multi-band / SAE certification, such as: Tablet, GPS, GSM, Special Purpose Cell Phones, Alarms, Smartwatch, other IoT devices, etc.
- What are the requirements?
To carry out the registration, it is required to have the list with the IMEI of each device, its technical and complementary documentation required according to regulations, in addition to reports and certificates, as appropriate.
- Safety Approval (SEC)
This is carried out to ensure that the product meets the levels of electrical safety required in Chile.
- What products does it apply to?

- What are the requirements?
The requirements depend on the type of product, documentation associated with it as well as the delivery of samples for analysis.
